John Fontanilla, MD, FASN
About Dr Fontanilla
A Philadelphia native, Dr. Fontanilla joined Metropolitan Nephrology Associates in 2012, where he provides kidney care in the inpatient, outpatient, and dialysis settings. He serves as a nephrologist at the Parkview, City Ave, and Roxborough locations, as well as Medical Director of Fresenius Kidney Care Cambria. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, and is ASDIN-certified in Hemodialysis Vascular Access procedures.
Outside of Metropolitan Nephrology Associates, he enjoys teaching residents and fellows throughout the Delaware Valley and shares his passion for dialysis access widely. Dr Fontanilla serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Fontanilla graduated from Georgetown University and received his medical education from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University. During fellowship, he received the Outstanding Fellow Teaching Award and served as Chief Fellow in Nephrology. He is a proud graduate of St. Joe’s Prep (“The Prep”).
