No Surprise Act

March 3, 2022

You have the right to know and approve any possible medical charges that might not be covered by your health insurance.

What is the No Suprise Act?

As part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, Congress passed the No Suprise Act to add more transparency to medical billing. As part of this act, providers are able to provide Good Faith Estimates to patients who are uninsured or choose to self pay before any care is provided so patients have a more accurate idea of what their bill will be.

Who Does The No Suprise Act Apply to?

Anyone who has commercial insurance, choose to self pay, or has no health insurance.

(Medicare, Medicaid, VA, TriCare or Indian Health Services plans have other protections already in place)
